How to prevent telehealth Facebook ad account restrictions

To prevent a Facebook ad account from being disabled, a GLP-1 telehealth brand has to close each gap Meta lists in its own help pages. Verify the business and domain. Get LegitScript certification and Meta authorization before any prescription drug ad. Keep creative, landing pages and tracking inside the health rules, require 2FA, and keep payments clean while spend grows.

Every Meta rule quoted below comes from Meta’s own help and policy pages. Policy checked on October 24, 2026.

Why Meta restricts telehealth ad accounts, and the control for each cause

Meta’s “About advertising restrictions” page names 5 scenarios that lead to restrictions. Each one has a control a telehealth brand can set before it scales:

What Meta says triggers a restrictionPrevention control
Not following the “Meta Advertising Standards, Commerce Policies or other policies and terms”Check every ad and landing page against Meta’s health, drug and personal-attribute rules before launch
Assets that “have been compromised or hacked”Named admins only, unknown users removed
Not meeting “two-factor authentication requirements”Require 2FA for everyone in the portfolio
Daily spend or billing limits “until we can be sure they’re consistently following our policies”A clean policy record and budgets raised in steps
“unusual payment or account activity, high rates of failed payments or disputed payments”Accurate, funded payment methods in the business’s name

Restrictions can land on any of 4 assets: an admin’s personal profile, the Page, the ad account or the whole business portfolio. A restriction on one admin’s profile can reach the ad accounts that person runs: “Any ad accounts where they’re the only attached user may also be disabled.” Keep every admin’s own profile secure and inside Meta’s rules.

Verify the business and the domain before you scale

Business verification comes first. Meta says it “is required to access certain advertising, developer, billing and spending features.” Start it in Security Center in Business Suite, with your legal entity’s details.

For the domain, open Settings in Business Suite, then Brand safety, then Domains. Add the root domain (example.com, not www.example.com) and verify it with a meta tag or an HTML file.

Meta adds that any attempt “to circumvent Meta’s verification review system” can cost you verified status “or take additional action on the account.”

Get LegitScript certification and Meta authorization before any prescription drug ad

“Promoting prescription drugs is not allowed without authorization from Meta,” and Meta “requires telehealth providers to be actively certified with LegitScript before submitting an application,” which you then file in the Authorizations and verifications tab of Business Suite.

The order is LegitScript telemedicine certification, then Meta authorization, then Rx ads aimed only at people 18 or older in countries where you’re certified. Targeting and disclaimer detail for semaglutide and tirzepatide ads sits in Meta prescription drug ads for GLP-1 telehealth.

Build creative and landing pages that pass Meta’s ad review

Meta reviews the ad and its landing page. Review “is typically completed within 24 hours,” and ads “can be reviewed again” after they go live.

The Meta rules every GLP-1 ad has to meet:

  • Weight-loss ads must target people “at least 18 years or older.”
  • No “statements of inferiority about physical appearance” and no “Close up on specific body area by pinching fat”.
  • No copy that asserts or implies the viewer’s “Physical or mental health (including medical conditions)”.
  • “The products and services promoted in an ad must match those promoted on the landing page.”

A run of rejections can drag down the whole account. If you “repeatedly post policy-violating or lower quality ads,” Meta says its systems “may start considering all ads from your Page, domain, ad account or other associated entities as lower quality.” The old and new creative wording sits side by side in Meta’s weight-loss ad rules for GLP-1 brands.

Keep health information out of Meta Business Tools

Meta’s prohibited information “includes health information,” and names for events, conversions and custom audiences “must not reflect, imply, or be based on any prohibited information.” Meta may also put your site in its health and wellness category, which lists a “telemedicine platform” as an example. Audit pixel events, URL parameters and audience names before launch, using Meta health data restrictions for telehealth.

Secure admins and payment methods

Without two-factor authentication, “Meta may restrict or remove people’s access to advertising” or “remove a payment method.” Require 2FA for the whole portfolio and keep Meta’s hacked account guide where your admins can find it.

Meta’s failed-payment page lists the payment controls:

  • Keep card number, expiry, CVV and bank name accurate.
  • Keep the card active and funded, especially near the monthly billing date.
  • Don’t stretch one card across too many accounts. “Typically, one payment method can be added to up to 10 ad accounts.”
  • Add a second valid payment method to the ad account, as Meta suggests, so one declined charge doesn’t pause delivery.

Raise Meta ad spend in steps

Raise Meta budgets in steps, each backed by successful charges and a clean ad review record. Meta’s help pages give no number for a safe daily increase. They do explain how an account builds trust.

A new account’s payment threshold “is automatically set to a small amount” (Meta’s example is $25) and “may be raised” after successful payments, which Meta calls “a way to build up a good payment history.” Meta can also limit “how much an advertiser can spend each day” while it checks compliance, or lower the payment threshold. If the threshold drops or a daily cap appears, pause the ramp and check Business Support Home.

What Meta treats as evasion

Meta says “Any attempt to evade our review process or other enforcement actions is not allowed.”

Allowed setupNot allowed (Meta’s wording)
One verified business portfolio that owns your ad accounts, Page and domain“Attempting to create new ad accounts or other business assets with the intent to repeat violations after we’ve disabled existing accounts”
Admins added by name, each with their own profile and 2FA“you must not sell, rent, buy or exchange site privileges, such as administrative access”
Rejected ads edited or sent for review“Coordination within a network of accounts or business assets that run the same or similar ads that persistently or severely violate our policies”

If an account is already restricted, an admin asks Meta to look again from Business Support Home, and “Typically, our review is completed in 48 hours.” The steps are in what to do when a telehealth ad account is disabled.

The GLP1.partners media team’s pre-launch checklist

Run these 8 checks in launch order before a first Meta campaign and before each budget step. Each one comes from a section above:

  1. Business verified in Security Center; root domain verified under Brand safety.
  2. LegitScript certification active and Meta Rx authorization approved, if any ad promotes a prescription drug.
  3. Every weight-loss and Rx ad set targets 18+; Rx ads only where you’re certified.
  4. Creative free of inferiority statements, pinched-fat shots and “you” plus a health condition.
  5. Each ad matches a landing page that loads.
  6. No health details in pixel events, URL parameters or audience names.
  7. 2FA required for everyone, and every admin added by name with their own profile.
  8. Payment details accurate, card funded, Business Support Home clear before the budget goes up.
