When a Meta ad account is disabled at a GLP-1 telehealth brand, start in Meta Business Support Home. Open Account status overview to see which asset was restricted and why. Fix the cause first (flagged ads, Rx authorization, payment or verification), then have an admin request a review. Meta limits how many reviews you get, and its decision is final.
The steps are the same whether you call it disabled, restricted or banned, on Facebook or Instagram. Policy checked on October 24, 2026.
Which level did Meta restrict?
Account status overview in Business Support Home lists the restricted asset. Meta restricts at 4 levels: a business portfolio, an ad account, a Page or a person’s profile. A single rejected ad is a fifth, smaller problem. Each has its own route:
- If one ad was rejected and the account still runs: edit the ad or request another review of that ad.
- If the ad account is restricted or disabled: fix the cause, then request a review of the account in Business Support Home.
- If the business portfolio, a Page or an admin’s profile is restricted: take the steps Meta lists for that asset (identity, verification or account security), then request a review.
One look-alike is easy to confuse with a restriction. If your ads still deliver but conversion data dropped, Meta may have categorized your site as health and wellness (its examples include a “telemedicine platform”), a category that can carry data sharing restrictions. That isn’t an account disable. See Meta health data restrictions for telehealth.
Why Meta disables or restricts telehealth ad accounts
Meta restricts advertisers when they break its Advertising Standards or other policies, when it suspects a hacked portfolio, when admins miss its two-factor authentication requirement, or when it sees “unusual payment or account activity, high rates of failed payments or disputed payments.”
For a GLP-1 brand, the policy causes sit in a few specific rules:
| Telehealth cause | Meta’s wording | Where it lives |
|---|---|---|
| Rx ads without certification or authorization | “Meta requires online pharmacies and telehealth providers to be actively certified with LegitScript.” | Drugs and Pharmaceuticals |
| Targeting outside the rules | Ads may “Only target people in countries in which they are certified” and “Only target people 18 years or older” (US, Canada or New Zealand only) | Drugs and Pharmaceuticals |
| Weight-loss creative | Ads can’t depict a “Close up on specific body area by pinching fat” or contain “statements of inferiority about physical appearance” | Health and Wellness |
| Health data in tracking | Health information “should not be shared in Meta Business Tools data such as URL parameters” | About prohibited information |
| Identity | “Advertising accounts must be associated with a legitimate business or individual.” | Advertising Standards |
If one ad was rejected: fix it before it becomes an account problem
A single rejected ad leaves the account running, but Meta warns: “You can be restricted from advertising for severe or repeated ad violations.” Meta emails you a link to the reason in Business Support Home. You can then edit the ad, create a new one, or request another review if the rejection was wrong.
- Keep the rejected ad. Meta says “you may lose your ability to request another review if the ad is deleted.”
- Each ad gets one re-review, and Meta aims to decide “within 48 hours.”
- A rejection that Meta overturns “will not count as an ad violation.”
For a GLP-1 Rx ad, the certification, authorization, targeting and disclaimer checks are in our Meta prescription drug ads guide.
What to fix before you request an account review
Fix everything Meta flagged before you file. Meta says “There is a limited number of times you can request an advertising restriction review. Once the review is completed, the decision is final.”
- Pause or edit every flagged ad, plus similar ads that break the same rule.
- Check the landing pages. Meta’s ad review can look at “an ad’s destination, such as a landing page or website.”
- Settle failed or disputed payments and turn on two-factor authentication for every admin.
- Confirm your LegitScript status and Meta authorization if you advertise Rx treatments.
- Clean health details out of pixel events, URL parameters and custom conversion names.
If your Meta ad account is disabled: request a review in Business Support Home
Only an admin on the account can request the review:
- In Business Support Home, select Account status overview in the left menu.
- Select the restricted account.
- In the What you can do section, select Request review.
- Complete the on-screen steps.
Meta says: “Typically, our review is completed in 48 hours, although it may take longer in some cases.” It sends the decision by email.
3 more points from Meta’s help pages:
- Ads don’t restart. “Any ads running before the restriction will not be automatically restarted.” Turn them back on in Ads Manager.
- The 6-month limit. If an ad account disabled for a policy violation stays ineligible for reinstatement for 6 months, unused prepaid services may be forfeited where allowed by law, and “After this timeframe, the account can’t be reinstated.”
- Requesting doesn’t hurt you. Meta says another review “will not hurt your standing with our company in any way.”
If the business portfolio, Page or personal profile is restricted
A restriction on the business portfolio, a Page or a personal profile blocks advertising beyond one ad account. Each level has its own steps under What you can do in Business Support Home:
| Level | What Meta says it blocks | Route |
|---|---|---|
| Business portfolio | “your business portfolio isn’t allowed to advertise” | Steps under What you can do (such as verification), then Request review |
| Page | “your Page isn’t allowed to advertise” | Request review for the Page |
| Personal profile | “you are not allowed to use Meta Products to advertise” | Confirm identity, secure the account, then Request review |
If an admin’s personal profile is restricted, “Any ad accounts where they’re the only attached user may also be disabled,” while other members may still advertise.
Business verification runs from Security Center in Meta Business Suite. Details must “exactly match the details of your legal business entity,” the website must load over HTTPS, and a decision “may take up to 14 business days.”
How telehealth brands prevent the next restriction
Before each GLP-1 launch, a telehealth brand can lower the risk of another Meta restriction with 3 checks:
- An active LegitScript certification and an approved Meta Rx authorization, in place before an ad promotes a prescription drug.
- Weight-loss and Rx campaigns limited to adults 18+, with creative that follows the GLP-1 weight-loss ads policy and landing pages that match each ad.
- Health information kept out of pixel events, URLs and audience names, and two-factor authentication turned on for every admin.
Business verification, payments and spend ramps are covered in our guide on how to keep a telehealth Meta ad account in good standing.
FAQ
Why is my Meta ad account restricted? Meta lists policy violations, a suspected hack, missing two-factor authentication, and unusual payment or account activity. Account status overview in Business Support Home shows the restricted asset and the steps Meta offers.
Can I appeal a disabled Meta ad account more than once? Meta says there is “a limited number of times” you can request a restriction review, and once the review is completed, “the decision is final.”
What if there’s no option to appeal? For disabled Facebook and Instagram accounts, Meta says it lets you know “whether you can request another review.” If Business Support Home lists other steps, such as verification, do those first.
