What to do when a GLP-1 offer is paused

When a GLP-1 offer is paused, stop paid traffic to that tracking link today, then ask the brand or network in writing for the reason, the restart date and the status of your pending conversions. A paused offer, a closed program and a removed affiliate account each follow different rules, so find out which one you’re dealing with first.

Why GLP-1 offers get paused

GLP-1 offers get paused for the usual reasons (budget, caps, a brand changing networks) and for causes tied to prescription telehealth. These GLP-1 causes have a public, dated record:

CauseWhat the public record showsWhat it means for affiliates
Compounding rules changedFDA found “the tirzepatide injection shortage is resolved” on December 19, 2024 and the semaglutide shortage resolved on February 21, 2025. The grace periods for outsourcing facilities ended March 19 and May 22, 2025Compounded offers that leaned on the shortage had to change, and so did their landing pages
FDA letters on claimsOn March 3, 2026 the FDA announced “30 warning letters to telehealth companies,” its second round for telehealth firms since it began a crackdown on misleading drug ads the previous SeptemberA brand that gets a letter has to change the flagged claims, and its offer pages can change with them
The brand can change terms at willOrderlyMeds reserves the right to change or end its affiliate relationships and commissions whenever it choosesFind the change clause in every program before you scale
State exclusionsMondae says signups from Florida “do not earn commissions”Part of your traffic can stop paying while the offer looks live
Traffic-quality rulesThe Triad Media “GLP1 - US” listing on OfferVault (updated October 28, 2026) restricts “No Incent”Traffic that breaks the rules gets reversed, and a pattern of it can pause your account

If the GLP-1 offer is paused or capped

A paused or capped GLP-1 offer usually means the program still runs but isn’t buying right now. Stop the spend, and keep everything that will earn again once it restarts.

  1. Pause the paid campaigns that point at the link.
  2. Ask your account manager three things in writing: why the offer is paused, when it restarts, and whether clicks during the pause still count.
  3. Ask whether the network sends your clicks from the paused offer to a fallback offer. One media buyer wrote in December 2016 that network fallback redirects had gotten their accounts suspended at traffic networks about 5 times that year. Ask to turn fallback off for your account, or get the fallback offer named so you can check it against your ad platform’s rules.
  4. Keep the URLs of pages that rank. Swap the link inside the page if you move to another offer, so you don’t lose the page’s search position.
  5. Write down the date and the number of pending conversions, and ask whether they still move through the program’s normal hold and lock.

How holds and locks work from click to payout is covered in how GLP-1 affiliate programs work.

If the GLP-1 program is closing

A closing GLP-1 program gives you a notice period, and the work happens inside it. Awin’s help page for advertisers sets a “14-day notice period for closure (unless otherwise agreed)” on its Access plan, and says advertisers must “validate pending transactions during the notice period.” Sales that land inside the cookie window after closure are still listed as pending and validated (approved or declined).

What to do during the notice period:

  • Export your reports and screenshot your dashboard while you still have access.
  • List every pending conversion with its date and amount.
  • Move traffic to a replacement GLP-1 offer before the last day, not after.
  • Check if the brand cut your rate on the way out. Awin’s Access agreement lets an advertiser change “the prospective Commission on 30 Business Days’ notice to Publishers,” says commissions on past actions “may not be varied,” and caps a cut at 20% in any 30-day period without Awin’s consent.

If your own affiliate account was paused or removed

A removed GLP-1 affiliate account is about you, not the offer, and the risk is money you’ve already been paid. impact.com’s partner agreement says the platform “may seek return of Partner Compensation previously paid out, even after the effective date of termination.” It also gives a partner “ten (10) days’ notice” to cure a breach before it terminates for that reason.

  1. Stop all traffic to that brand on every source.
  2. Ask for the specific rule you broke, in writing.
  3. Fix it and ask for a review if the agreement allows one.
  4. Track the action locking period. impact.com explains that during it, a brand can “modify or reverse an action,” and “When an action is reversed, the action cost is voided and no commission is due.”

Don’t open a second account with the same brand or route the same traffic through another affiliate. Fix the cause with the brand.

How to protect GLP-1 traffic before the next pause

You protect GLP-1 traffic from the next pause with a tracker, a backup offer and a clear read of each program’s terms, all set up in advance:

  • Run every paid campaign through your own tracker, so you can switch the offer in one place.
  • Keep a second GLP-1 offer approved and tested at small volume.
  • Read each program’s change and termination clause before you scale, and note the hold, the lock rule and the payment cycle.
  • Keep traffic inside the brand’s rules: coupon and deal sites only with the codes the brand approves, no incentivized traffic, no unapproved brand bidding, brand-approved claims only. The FDA’s 2026 letters targeted “claims implying sameness with FDA-approved products,” so don’t write your own drug claims.
  • Don’t put all your volume on one program. Compare payout, holds and clawbacks in GLP-1 affiliate commissions.
  • Before you join a network, ask how it handles a brand pause: where your clicks go and how pending conversions are settled. More on that in telehealth affiliate networks.

FAQ

Do I still get paid for conversions made before a GLP-1 offer was paused?

The program’s terms decide it, and those conversions still have to clear the normal hold. On Awin’s Access agreement, commissions on past actions “may not be varied,” so a rate cut can’t reach back. Get your pending count in writing on the day of the pause.

How much notice do affiliates get before a GLP-1 program closes?

It depends on the network and the brand’s agreement. Awin’s Access plan sets 14 days unless agreed otherwise. Programs that run in-house set their own terms, and some can change them “at any time.”

Can a GLP-1 brand cut my payout without notice?

On Awin’s Access agreement, a brand must give 30 business days’ notice for a prospective commission change. Outside that agreement, check the program’s own terms.
