LegitScript certification for GLP-1 telehealth brands

LegitScript certification is a paid review of a healthcare business, done website by website, against LegitScript’s standards. For a GLP-1 telehealth brand it decides whether prescription drug ads can run: Meta asks telehealth providers for it, and Google asks for it before US telemedicine ads. Both platforms then add their own approval on top.

Which LegitScript question are you on?

What LegitScript certification is, and why GLP-1 ads depend on it

LegitScript is a private company that certifies healthcare websites, and Meta and Google both write its certification into their healthcare ad rules. Its own site calls it “a private certification body and not affiliated with any law enforcement agency.” The telemedicine program covers brands like yours: it “includes telemedicine and telehealth providers,” and LegitScript says it’s “required by many major credit cards and internet platforms.”

Certification is the first approval, and each platform adds its own. On Meta, a certified telehealth provider still “must request authorization from Meta,” per its Drugs and Pharmaceuticals page. Google’s US section allows telemedicine providers “if they’re accredited by LegitScript’s Healthcare Merchant Certification Program,” and states: “Advertisers must also be certified with Google.”

From first lookup to live GLP-1 ads

A GLP-1 telehealth brand goes through eight steps before prescription ads run, and LegitScript, Meta and Google each decide at least one of them. Where a cell says “not stated,” the source publishes nothing on it.

8. RenewalLegitScriptValid 1 year; notice usually 60 days before expiryHow long

Neither Meta nor Google publishes a review time for steps 6 and 7, so a media start date set for the week LegitScript approves has no buffer for them. Plan traffic that needs no Rx ad approval, such as comparison sites and content affiliates, for that gap.

Checking a LegitScript status before you sign a partner

A LegitScript lookup tells you, for one domain at a time, whether a site is Certified, Legitimate or flagged. LegitScript’s classifications guide gives “Legitimate” to sites accredited by bodies it recognizes, “such as the NABP,” which can work for a partner pharmacy but not for the brand itself on Meta, where only active LegitScript certification counts. Google’s US pharmacy rules accept either LegitScript or NABP. With 5 free look-ups a week per IP address, spread the checks across your pharmacy, platform and funnel domains. Our guide walks through running a LegitScript lookup on domains and partners.

What LegitScript reviews in a GLP-1 telehealth application

LegitScript reviews the whole business behind the website, from licensing to the ads. Its Healthcare Certification page groups the standards into four areas: registration and compliance, internal practices (including legal and regulatory history from the past 10 years), external practices such as partners and valid prescriptions, and transparency and advertising. The Terms and Conditions, in their Version September 15, 2026, set contract rules that catch multi-domain funnels: WHOIS records for domains you control can’t hide behind a privacy or proxy service, and you must tell LegitScript about a licensure or regulatory change within 30 days. Our checklist covers LegitScript certification requirements for GLP-1 brands.

LegitScript fees per domain

LegitScript bills per website, and a GLP-1 brand pays for every domain it certifies. The pricing page lists $975 to apply (nonrefundable), then $2,150 a year for standard certification or $3,995 for probationary. Expedited processing is $2,500 per application. The page also states the rule every multi-domain funnel has to budget for: “Each domain to be certified requires its own application fee and annual certification fee.” A main site plus one lander domain on standard terms comes to $6,250 in year one. Our breakdown has the full LegitScript cost math for multi-domain brands.

How long LegitScript review runs

LegitScript commits to screening within 2 business days of submission and publishes no time for the analyst review that follows. The January 2026 guide names what slows the rest down: incomplete documents and slow replies to analyst questions. Certification is valid for 1 year from the date it’s granted, and the renewal notice usually arrives 60 days before expiry. Meta asks for active certification, so the renewal date belongs in the media calendar. Our timeline guide maps how long LegitScript certification takes, stage by stage.

FAQ

Is LegitScript real?

Yes. It’s a private certification body with no law enforcement role, and both Meta’s and Google’s healthcare ad policies name its program.

Is LegitScript worth it for a GLP-1 brand?

If you want to run prescription telehealth ads on Meta, or telemedicine ads on Google in the US, the policies require it. Whether it pays back depends on how much of your growth runs through those channels.

Are there alternatives to LegitScript?

For a telehealth brand on Meta, the policy names no alternative; the internal-review route it describes is for pharmaceutical manufacturers. For US online pharmacies, Google also accepts NABP, which describes its Digital Pharmacy Accreditation as a “3-year accreditation.” US telemedicine on Google still points to LegitScript.
